How on earth did I land myself in Project Alpha Season 2

Back in January, I joined ST, KY and Ringo in Tambun as a guest blogger for their segments in Project Alpha 2. Well, I really don’t need to repeat that I enjoyed myself very much on the trip but yeah I’m going to do it anyway, I had loads of fun!!! Shooting a reality show with your friends? Are you kidding? You don’t get opportunities like that knocking on your doors very often.

So here are the reasons why I was a guest blogger on the show for Ringo’s, KY’s and ST’s segments. Let me flip out my awesomesause picture archive skills to illustrate our degrees of separation.

1. ShaolinTiger

He was always the “ghost” boyfriend in the pictures of this blog. In fact, I have had people accusing me of having an imaginary boyfriend :D We made a decision very early on to keep the relationship private from our blogs due to personal reasons. Okay it’s because I was cheating with him on my then-boyfriend and him with me on his then-girlfriend. Okay, just kidding!!!

The “ghost” boyfriend.

Anyway, our relationship was under wraps so much so that whenever we went on vacations, if he blogged about it I wouldn’t and if I blogged about it, he wouldn’t. Well, in the past 2 years or so, namely due to being sick of not being able to blog about our awesome holidays and with blog topics getting so effing scarce these days, we finally decided to come out as a couple. Ok, just kidding again hehe. Well, the real reason is that we’re both so freakin’ old already, practically living as a married couple and our lives so majorly intertwined it’s becoming impossible to skirt around when blogging about major things in our lives. I mean seriously, we got a house together (which we are immensely proud of) and we got Charlie too (whom we immensely love), how on earth are we able to hide those? So yeah, one day we just kind of like, fuck this shit, you are my bf and I’m your gf lah :P

With Charlie and QQ (our neighbour’s pup).

2. KYSpeaks

I knew KY through ST. They were already friends for more than half a decade before I met ST. Days before I actually met the then-new-boyfriend’s best friend, the white man decided that we should prank KY over IRC (internet relay chat). I don’t know what we were thinking :P

So anyway, ST told me what KY’s nickname on IRC was and our plans were soon set in motion. I messaged the fella and started flirting with him. And naturally he asked for my picture.

This was what I sent to him:

Okay, granted the picture above isn’t the original picture that I sent cause it was 500 times funnier, unfortunately I couldn’t trace it on the Internet anymore. So you’d have to contend with the above. Anyway, upon receiving the picture, he logged out of the chat lololol.

When I finally met him, the first thing he did was not to say hello or how are you but to reach out with his index finger and poked my underarm to test how jiggly it was. I knew we would be best friends since :)

Here’s KY propping my drunk head up so I could cut my 21st birthday cake.

3. Ringo

The first time I met Ringo was at a photoshoot for Malay Mail. We were being featured as the hottest females bloggers in Malaysia at that time, wuahaha. She came with her mom and my initial impression was that she was shy, petite, soft-spoken and man, those enviable long, glossy black hair! And my Cheras radar totally detected the proper Seremban fashion too. I thought she was at least 5 years younger than me and it’s only a few years later that I finally found out she was actually older than me by a few months!!! Yes, she is really good with her Cheat One (TM) haha.

This is our first picture ever together.

Anyway, we started to get to know each other better recently and guess what, she’s definitely not shy, is more petite than when I first knew her, not soft-spoken lol and got gold hair now. And…..Seremban fashion is still thankfully intact. The big plus is I also discovered that she’s quick-witted as hell and straight-forward, things I really enjoy in people hehe.

More recent picture with the Cheesie.

So anyway, now you kind of know how I managed to land a cushy spot as a guest blogger on Project Alpha Season 2. We were just messing with each other the entire duration of the shoot as we normally do, we had great fun and hope you enjoy watching our antics too :D

Memorable food I’ve eaten while in UK.

Okay, I was looking through my blog drafts. I didn’t realise I have so many unfinished blog postings and some of those posts could have been fun to write if I just had not been so lazy :P So now if I posted also there’s no point as the topics have expired already…not relevant to this time and day.

But there’s always one topic that will never expire. Food!!! Here is the list of memorable food that I’ve eaten during my trip to UK. If you hadn’t eaten, be warned…….

1. Home-made Full English breakfast version one. Mostly grilled, the bf’s mom of course tried to make the dish as healthier as possible but it was still very tasty, hehehe.

2. Home-made Full English breakfast version two. We told the BF’s mom not to worry about our health so she made the full english for us again with a slight variation. With baked beans and the under-appreciated black pudding and bacon.fat.soaked.toasts…..nyahahahaha :D

3. Home-made Pork chop with apple sauce. BF’s mom did it again. The pork was juicy with really crunchy crackling. The steamed runner beans were fresh and crispy and the awesomesauce layer potatoes.

4. Homemade cucumber and pepper/hummus sandwich. We were picnicking at the foot of Malvern Hill. I still remember how blue and clear the sky was with fluffy white clouds. The sandwiches were fresh and refreshing, the company was wonderful, it was a very good day :)

5. Strawberry trifle. Oh..my..lard! Jelly, custard and cream..the English knows their dessert!

6. Chinese takeaway from Wing Sing. Wing Sing in Worcester is owned by the bf’s longtime buddy and also a very popular takeaway in the area, so of course I had to try it. Not to mention, at that point of time, I really badly needed rice in my system lol. True to my bf’s words, Wing Sing does serve fantastic chinese food. A little too greasy than Malaysian chinese food but who’s complaining?

7. Homemade beef steak with grilled tomatoes and mushrooms. A lovely and simple meal cooked with love :)

8. Scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam at Dunster. Orgasmic!!!

9. Summer pudding (pavlova with summer fruits). I can keep eating this. The juicy fruits and creme fraiche soaking into the meringue creating a sweet, crunchy & chewy but refreshing dessert all at the same time.

10. Baked Camembert on crusty baguette with onion marmalade and beetroot. Oh my lard….this dish makes me wish I had a garden overlooking the sea because that was exactly where we ate this lovely snack. Hot, delicious, gooey Camembert cheese spread all over a slice of warm baguette with some onion marmalade for a tinge of sweetness. It was heavenly! Then you clear your palette with a couple of slices of beetroot and start all over again :D

11. Roast duck. This was the 1st dish that BF’s aunt cooked for us when we visited her at the coastal town, Minehead. I felt very honoured as she roasted an entire duck just for us. Needless to say, the duck was delicious…the skin crispy and the flesh juicier at every bite. She served the duck with layer potatoes (see next item), possibly my favourite way of eating potatoes, EVER!

12. Layer potatoes. I worship this dish. I love it so much I intend to recreate it in my own kitchen next time. It’s impossible to fathom how some sliced potatoes, creme fraiche and salt & pepper could combine to become one of the most delicious potato dish I’ve ever had. It’s slightly crispy, slightly soft and very tasty.

13. Sunday carvery lunch (roast pork and Yorkshire pudding). We had this while visiting the garden centre. The garden centre is kind of like our plants nursery but with great food and a retail outlet for middle-aged people :P Anyway…man it was decadent! Best Yorkshire pudding I’ve ever had. It was fluffy and buttery and went so well with the gravy. I do miss it…

14. Venison patty and Mediterranean vegetables. Not my favourite cause the venison patty tasted more or less like Ramly burger patty but it was still a very fulfiling dinner.

15. Pickled eggs with crisps. I really loved this! I never had pickled egg in my life and thought it’d be nasty but the sourness of the egg went really well with the salty crisps, I couldn’t stop eating!

16.Pork scratchings. The number 1 snack in my life. I would rather kill a kitten then have no scratchings in my life ever again. Okay kidding. Okay, maybe not. It’s hard, very salty and very crunchy. I believe it’s an acquired taste and I certainly have acquired a passionate liking for it. Not the healthiest snack in the world either…but life is short :P

There were more food than the ones listed here that I found really delicious but most times I didn’t manage to take pictures because I was too pre-occupied with eating. I guess you can agree that the BF’s mom & aunt are very good cooks too :)

Really can’t wait for my new kitchen to finish so I could re-create some of those food!!

I’m still a n00b.

Okay, I failed! I gave up my detox yesterday evening and had dinner. I ate a big bowl of “lui char” (hakka vegan dish) and nicked KY‘s seafood curry during dinner. I am a failure T_T

You’d think that after being alive for over 25 years I’d have developed better willpower. Nope, instead I starved for 48 hours and ruined it all in 2 minutes. Sigh….

Anyway, my loot from Strawberrynet has arrived. Less than 7 days it took, I was very impressed because I was told buying perfume online takes longer to arrive due to special custom requirement etc. Among the stuff I got was this MAC blusher. But I think I chose the wrong colour already…it looks more brownish then red. I’m sure I’d find a way to use it though.

Actually I really want to blog about something that’s been bugging my mind so bad. But I’m going to refrain because it might become a full-blown rant. I’m just really disappointed with how things have turned out.

Just goes to show that even after living for more than 25 years, you can still fail at detoxing, you can still misjudge cosmetic pictures online and they, are the least of your concerns when it comes to misjudgment.

What I do know though, that this will become just another tiny irrelevant blemish in my life. I don’t know how this will pan out but we shall see.
