How to curl hair with socks. Yes, with socks.

I don’t know about you but I’m one of those women that can’t handle a curling tong. I always ended up burning my forehead, ears or fingers. Nevermind burning myself, but the hair always looked frazzled and frizzy after so I might as well not do anything.

I wish I could be good at using a curling tong or even ordinary curling rolls but sadly, some people are just born without any hair curling talent in their genes.

One day, I stumbled upon this video on youtube that teaches you how to curl your hair with socks. Yeap, the kind that you wear on your feet. I was intrigued.

What you need:

  • Socks, several pairs (more socks for more curls)
  • A spritzer bottle filled with water
  • Leave-in conditioner (optional)
  • # – Fill up a spritzer bottle with water and add some leave-in conditioner if you want.

    # – Looks like white cendols. Shake the bottle until combined.

    # – Prepare socks. Clean ones, please :)

    # – My pre-curled hair. My gawd T_T

    # – Get a section of your hair, smooth it down with your fingers.

    # – Spray the water+conditioner solution on it to damp up the hair. Just damp, not soaked.

    # – Now get a sock, wrap the ends of the hair around the sock then roll sock towards your scalp.

    # – Then tie a knot with both ends of the sock. Don’t tie it loose but not too tight either.

    # – Repeat with the rest of your hair.

    # – Close-up of socks in my hair.

I actually slept with the socks in my hair. It’s very comfortable, like having another layer of billowy pillow under my head haha. I’m quite a rowdy sleeper yet I woke up with all the socks still intact.

If you don’t feel like sleeping with the socks in your hair, try to leave them on for at least 5 hours.

    # – When it’s time to unveil the curls, untie the sock and gently ease it out of the hair.

    # – Remove the rest of socks from hair.

    # – Yay, curls! With your fingers, gently tease them with your fingers for desired hairstyle.

    # – I went to a dance music festival with these curls and they lasted me through sweating & dancing for half a day, albeit a little limp in the end. Impressed!

I think this is a much healthier way to curl hair as well. Hope this tutorial helps you girls out there with difficulties in using curling tongs like me.

Watch out, I might be a narcissistic, psychopatic, Machiavellian mind-reader.

I was reading this article called “Are Narcissists Better at Reading Minds?“. One of the most famous narcissists in the world, Tucker Max took the “Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test” and scored 33 out of 36, which is extremely high.

I took the test and scored 31. FML. Despite my blog name, I honestly didn’t think I was a text-book narcissist but now I’m not so sure.

    # – Mind reading?

I have to admit, it’s a little silly to relate mind-reading to narcissism directly, but the other possible explanations for high score in mind reading capabilities are either psychopathy or Machiavellianism. So, am still screwed!

Can you guys take the mind reading test and tell me how much you score? Maybe 31 is not really that high lah and I’m just freaking myself out.

    My kitchen says yellow.

I’m so happy. It’s been a year since we renovated the house and finally, the kitchen is complete. Truly complete! DANCE! DANCE! DANCE!

We have a mustard yellow wall in the kitchen. The plan was to hang up some pictures and shelves with an aluminium table underneath for dry working space.

For more than a year, all that materialised was only the aluminium table. The shelves and pictures lied around collecting dusts. We never found time.

    # – The aluminium table.

Actually I have a lot of storage space in the kitchen thanks to the cabinets, but I refrained from storing my baking supplies behind the closed cabinet doors because:

    1. I will actually forget where things are and will get frustrated searching for them. /scatterbrained
    2. Out of sight, out of mind…baking supplies will expire before I bake anything!

So, I just arranged them on the table (see picture above). The downside, working on the table became very inconvenient as flours & sugars etc get trapped behind the containers.

As time passed, I’d also started to put more and more things on the table, such as the knives & kitchen scale which I want stored away from moisture yet still accessible. My work space shrunk even more.

Just few days ago I totally burnt my arm trying to maneuver a massive freshly baked chocolate salted caramel tart because I didn’t have sufficient space bla bla bla long story. I realised I could take no more.

Mission: to install shelves and hang the pictures!

    # – Hubs screwing in the final screw to the first shelf.

    # – Then the second shelf.

    # – Install some hooks on the lower shelf too for hanging bananas or drying out a Peking Duck :D

    # – I slowly moved all my recipe books from upstairs to the kitchen.

    # – The pictures, which we bought from Cambodia and did not see the light of day since 2006 finally hung, framing the shelves. My recipe books are now home and my baking supplies are still accessible without eating up my workspace!

    # – :)

Thanks hubs for installing the shelves <3
