Slainte! Slainte! Slainte!
That’s “cheers” in Irish and it’s pronunced as slawn-che. Since it’s an all month long celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, you’ll find this little nugget of information absolutely useful :)
Mention St. Patrick’s Day and you can’t help but to associate it with Guinness. Thanks to Guinness, we Malaysians are able to experience all things Irish, green and fun that epitomise St. Patrick’s Day. This year’s celebration will be particularly bigger and grander because it’s also Guinness’ 250th birthday! Yes, humankind’s taste for the perfect pint dates way, way, wayyy back.
At the exclusive media launch party held at Hakka Republic, we were treated to free flow cold, creamy and smooth Guinness. Needless to say, the Guinness folks managed to get us really jolly and chatty, tee hee hee.
#1 – Eoin Duggan, Deputy Head of Mission at the Irish Embassy in Malaysia giving a speech.
#2 – Beautiful Guinness girls.
And the best highlight of the evening? They’d even managed to light up KL Tower in green!
#3 – Mark Jenner, Marketing Director of Guinness and Eoin Duggan launching St. Patrick’s Day by lighting up KL Tower in green.
#4 – A shamrockin’ KL Tower!
How about the food? We were of course served with Guinness-infused canapes specially prepared by Hakka Republic. Lovely stuff, especially when washed down with some bittersweet Guinness draught.
#5 – The Guinness-infused canapes.
#6 – With Kenny and Joyce.
#7 – With Aud, the petite bundle of hotness. Other people may be (much) taller, but you’re hot they’re not. You win :)
#8 – With Desmond the fehmes blogger.
#9 – With da man Mark Jenner, whom I sheepishly asked for a picture after interrupting his conversation with another person :P
Okay after all the camhoring and stuff, I was told that I was participating in a game. With Guinness slushing throughout my system, I was of course damn gungho!
#10 – Game time!
#11 – With my teammates.
Actually, I can’t really remember what I played already, tee hee hee. Something about doing some actions particular to countries like Japan, Ireland, Malaysia etc while chugging down some Guinness.
#12 – My team mates and I going for the win.
We didn’t win, in fact we were the last team cause….what do you know, we were too busy, chugging :P
#13 – Glug, glug, glug.
#14 – Other teams in action 1.
#15 – Other teams in action 2.
#16 – Other teams in action 3.
Who won? Kenny’s team lah. They even breakdanced, you gotta give it to them.
#17 – Breakdancing.
So throughout the month of March, you’ll be able to taste St. Patrick’s Day-inspired dishes paired with Guinness-infused sauces created by Chef in Black, Emmanuel Stroobant at Guinness-serving outlets listed on this website.
