Last weekday for the year!

Since it’s Friday and the last weekday of 2011, I thought I’d post up some pictures.

# – On the way to our marriage registration. Probably around 7am?

We didn’t sleep at all cause we were too excited. Around 9am, we drove home from Putrajaya, still unmarried because G was wearing jeans. They won’t budge at all, really cannot get married in jeans. FOL. Honestly, I was like WTF THIS IS NOT HAPPENING. But it did happen.

Home in record time, he put on a pair of corduroys and we brought another extra pair of boring pinstripe trousers just in case. Then, sped all the way back to Putrajaya. By noon we were man & wife, phew.

# – Charlie & happy Santa.

Just cause Charlie’s got the most Meh face ever. Can your dog make such a Meh face? Hehehe.

# – Kerol’s surprise birthday party. With her ice cream cakes cause she doesn’t eat cakes wtf.

Kerol was born on Xmas Eve, so Suan wanted to give her a proper celebration that’s not upstaged by Xmas hehe. Sweet housemate love. The surprise party was held in TJ Haus in Subang Jaya. It was one of the funnest parties ever :) Oh, the food was wonderful too, particularly the duck. Yums!

Sorry I don’t have many pictures :P

Have a happy, merry new year!!

Resolutions for 2012.

3 more days to a brand new year. Wow!! Last year I posted a list of my 2011 resolutions.

Looking through my list, I think I did pretty well! 7 out of 13 resolutions accomplished. Most of the big ticket items were struck out, so it’s not too bad. *pats self on the shoulder*

  • Get a diving license (so I can quit snorkelling and do the real thing with mah peeps).
  • DONE! Best thing I’ve ever done for myself. Love being underwater! Love being at the beach!

  • Pimp up my ride (change the body kit, put in a sweet stereo system, install anti-roll bar, noise-proofing, maybeeee repaint :D).
  • Drive to Thailand.
  • Dive in Thailand.
  • DONE! Koh Lipe ftw :D

  • Dive in Philippines.
  • Dye my hair (the last time I did it was 10 years ago out of rebellion, this time I’d be doing it to obscure my bald patch. FML).
  • DONE! 3 times in fact. Cut it short summore…so brave!

  • Get proper singing lessons (because I don’t want to waste these great genes, ahem).
  • Get proper sewing lessons (so I can sew in a straight line).
  • Refurbish at least one furniture (my contribution the the environment and my ego).
  • DONE! Painted a table silver and along the way painted my porch as well which led to G being angsty at me for a few days. I had to get on my knees to scrub paint off for a few hours before he would stop throwing me dirty looks :(

  • Throw out all my current shoes and replace them with new ones (to be honest, I’d probably do this before the year ends :P).
  • DONE! Got some old favourites which I have kept because they still look mint. Got money also cannot waste like that right?

  • Run everyday (so Charlie can run instead of walk alongside me, so my heart can be strong & healthy despite the truck load of pork I’ll be consuming and finally, so money on that treadmill won’t be burnt :P)
  • I almost forgot shopping for new clothes, FML.
  • DONE! Not as much as I like but good enough :D

  • And lastly, bake a fucking bundt cake!!!!
  • DONE! Baked more than just a bundt cake, I made LOADS of food!

So for the year 2012…

1. I vow to strike out all the unfulfilled resolutions in 2011 above (all 6 of them).
2. I vow to get my eyesight fixed with Lasik.
3. I vow to make a crockenbouche.
4. I vow to take care of my hair a little better than I normally do.
5. I vow to travel more.
6. I vow to print and hang pictures on our currently empty walls.
7. I vow to read at least one book a month.
8. I vow to be positive and optimistic.
9. I vow to be forgiving and patient.
10. I vow to be grateful and thankful for everything, no matter how trivial.
11. Dig a hole in my backyard so when the world ends, I can hide in it.

Kidding about the last one.

Only 16 resolutions altogether. Game on! Have a happy new year peeps!

Report: Inaugural Christmas Dinner Party at the Davieses.

Yay! Finally we’ve managed to throw the Xmas party that we’ve wanted to since last year but couldn’t.

Gareth has always envisioned a Xmas dinner party just like the ones when he was a kid where everyone’s seated down at the dinner table, eating and drinking until it’s impossible to eat and drink anymore. We got just that :D

At first, our initial plan was only to invite around 10 people due to lack of space but we ended up with 22 on paper and 23 on the day itself (cause I kept inviting more people hahaha). I’m glad to report that everyone was successfully seated!!!

The preparations began about a week before Xmas. We were basically out shopping for supplies everyday. Then home to make whatever than can be made earlier.

# – Marinating 3 massive rolls of pork loin, weighing about 4 kilos.

# – Brushing marinade over the ribs, all 7 kilos of them.

# – G made the beef stout stew. ONLY 2 kilos of meat.

I even made timetables for everyday from 22 December up till 25 December. However, by the eve of Xmas eve though, I was slightly panicky because I wasn’t sure if my lone oven were up to the task.

Suan came to my rescue by lending me her oven and all was well again /phew. Thank you Suan <3 # - Suan's oven which saved my life.

On Xmas day itself, my schedule basically went pear-shaped. By 3pm I knew I wasn’t going to be able to stick to it :P

# – The redundant schedule.

Thankfully some folks arrived earlier and were helping me and keeping me sane.

David helped me peel 4.5kilos of potatoes AND boil them, Grill Sargeant Lance helped to peel loads of strong onions (sorry!) as well as whip up some awesome prawn cocktail dressing.

He also brought the most ridiculously delicious lobster bisque ever (missing it already). Everybody else was chipping in whenever help was needed. I love you guys!!!!

# – Folks helping out in the kitchen.

# – Looloo & Jayna helping Lance to butter buns.

Before I realised, it was Xmas Dinner time! Woohoo!

# – Ho ho ho.

Here are some of the food that were served:

# – The sweet & sticky bbq ribs, recipe from John Torode. Blogged about them here.

# – Thank you Horng for cutting the ribs for easy consumption hehe.

# – Sargeant Grill Lance brought lobster bisque which was BEAUTIFUL… *angels sing*.

# – Lainey BB staking a claim on the home cured pork loins (recipe adapted from Nigella Lawson’s recipe, added pineapple juice to tenderise the meat further which was a good call!).

# – Of course, one of my favourite recipes – the fool-proof herb roasted chicken. We had two chickens instead of a turkey cause I was scared to make turkey lol. Btw, blogged about it here.

# – Layered potatoes (blogged about it here) & Christmas coleslaw (from Nigella again).

# – Chicken liver pate served with store-bought melba toasts (blogged about it here). Made two ramekins of it.

# – Xmas couscous that I haphazardly threw together (cause I thought there weren’t enough potatoes…I was wrong :P).

# – Prawn cocktails for everyone!

# – 3 desserts – tropical fruit pavlova, orange trifle (made by Gareth) and apple crumble (recipe here).

Another salad, roast potatoes and mash not in picture. We also totally forgotten about the beef stout stew still on the stove, only 2 people ate it in the end :P

We had too much food. There were supposed to be cabbage & bacons, boiled peas, garlic roasted carrots as well as a cheese platter with grapes and olives but there were just too.much.food. (and too little time lol). Maybe next year!

# – Leftovers.

# – Michael & Lance. Everyone pretty much looked like this after dinner. Objective achieved!

# – Suan pointing at Lance while Yuki camwhored, Charlie chilled and Melissa still eating!

# – The drunk-ish: KY, Jerry, Desmond, Horng, Terence, Kerol, G, Ruby, Whey Lu & Sam.

# – The pwetties: Yuki, Kerol, Li Ling and Melissa.

# – The waiting for food ones: Ee Laine, Sam, Desmond (with his face hidden again), Jerry, Whey Lu, David, Haze, KY & Lainey BB.

# – Terence, David, Celine, Desmond & Whey Lu.

# – Eric and Santa.

# – Derek getting molested by Santa.

# – Almost everybody <3

# – The Davieses :D

The best Xmas of my life!! Thanks everyone for making our first ever Xmas dinner party so fabulous <3 Looking forward to making this an annual thing. # - Merry Xmas and Happy New Year from #emocharlie.
